In 1994, Aflon Limited was incorporated, and commenced activities immediately thereafter under public designation as Aflon Computer Centre at Abuja. Aflon is registered and accredited as a Computer Training Institute by the Computer Association of Nigeria (COAN). Dr. Akin Fapohunda, our Director is also personally registered by the Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN).

In recent years, Aflon Computer Centre commenced transforming into a full-fletched academic, research and development institution. The transformation reflects the envisaged symbiotic dual character that will combine (a) academic technological training with (b) research and industrial consultancy based on Computer Technology.

Aflon will therefore in no time soonest be developed into a centre of excellence in the area of software technology and related computer science, computer graphics, computer aided design, geographical information systems, office management information systems and software engineering.

Aflon Limited currently offers a range of services in four broad categories as follows:

• Computer Engineering

  Hardware Supply and Maintenance Services
  Personal Computer Hardware Maintenance, including the installation of multi-user systems and networking.
  
  Software Development Tailored to the needs of Institutions and Small Businesses
  Our focus is the Development and Marketing of Business and Office Management Software (BOMS) targeted at government institutions, private businesses and religious bodies.
  
  GIS, Engineering Design and Drafting
  Aflon offers Geographical Information System, Digital Cartography and AutoCAD—based Bureau Services for Architects and Engineers, Geographic Information System (GIS) facility to Surveyors and Town Planners, and Commercial Digital Photography Services to all range of prospective users.




• Electronic Publishing

  Electronic Publishing entails releasing information on media such as Diskettes, Tape Cartridges and CD—ROM. The Compact Disc technology and format has the inherent ability to hold a lot of information. A single compact disc, similar to the one on which audio (music) is stored has the capacity to hold printed matter of up to 10,000 pages of A-4 paper. As we advance into the new millennium, Electronic Publishing opens up new channels of communication and a more effective way of distributing information other than in the printed form. The world has changed considerably in recent years, resulting in printed matter being replaced by its electronic formats.




• Manuscript Editing, Printing and Publishing

  In Aflon we have competence for the production of all forms of publications—books, journals etc.
  
  In pursuance to our bringing the knowledge of Computer Technology to the level of everyone, five textbooks have been published since 1995. The books are:
  
  1. Understanding and Using Microcomputers
  2. Computer Science for Children and Adult Beginners
  3. Computer Basics and Operating System Manual
  4. Word Processing Manual
  5. Electronic Spreadsheet Manual
  6. Database Management Manual
  
  Three of the above referenced computer books were recently upgraded and updated and released afresh in February 2005. They are:
  
  (a) Microcomputer Fundamentals
  (b) Using Computer Software Packages
  (c) Using the Internet
  
  Since 2002, Aflon is on contract with the Association of General & Private Medical Practitioners of Nigeria for the editing and printing of their Scientific Journal




• Computer Training for Individuals and Groups

  Aflon Computer Centre undertakes training courses for three broad categories of participants:
  

  • Vocational Certificate Courses lasting from three to six months for those in all professions who are desirous of being computer literate. These courses are also for beginners, children and adults alike regardless of formal educational background.
  • Preparation for Professional Examinations of the Computer Professional Registration Council (CPN) under the auspices of the Computer Association of Nigeria (COAN).
  • We shall shortly conclude arrangements to mount training programmes for those wishing to acquire British City & Guild Certifications.
