Aflon Digital Institute offers 3 beginner’s proficiency certificate courses:

SIT 101—Executive Computer (IT) User Course

The IT User Certificate Course is the ideal avenue for being introduced to the basics of Computer Science, and for the development of user skills that will enable every participant get the most of computer equipment at work and or at home. The course is suitable with everyone with a minimum of Junior Secondary School (JSS) qualification.

The course begins with an introduction to computer which will help participants’ master basic skills and serve as foundation and building block for subsequent development of expertise. It introduces the fundamental principles of computer technology as an essential tool for office management and enhancement of productivity. Delivered in a variety of modes, including theory, demonstrations and practical application, the course provides participants with access to individual computers and experience using basic computer packages. Participants gain hands on experience through a series of practical exercises.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Computer Hardware and Software Basics
  • Windows Operating System Applications
  • Internet Basics - E-Mailing and Browsing
  • Using Microsoft Office Software
  • Electronic Documents Production, using MS Word

Who should attend?

The computer fundamentals and use of software packages course is designed for everyone with basic education at the level of JSSCE. It is therefore meant for graduates in any discipline including the Arts and Social Sciences with interest in becoming computer literate. It is for everyone with access or need to use Computers at home or at work.

Time and Duration

The course is to last 3 to 4 weeks. It consists of 20Hrs Lectures and 25Hrs Practical: a total of 45Hrs, spanning 15 working days (3 weeks), with choice from 3 possible sessions— Morning (9.00 to 12.00am), Afternoon (1.00 to 4.00pm) and Evening (5.00 to 8.00pm).

Program Outcomes

Upon completion participants will have developed a good understanding of the fundamental functions and applications of computers, including the use of the Internet for communications. They would have become computer literate to the level of being able to produce many forms of office documents.

SIT 102—Business Information Technology Course

If you’re always using computers at home or in the office, but has never had the benefit of a formalized exposure to orderly tutoring or training, you may be under utilizing your computer resources. It is certainly not enough to just be able to type documents, without being able to format it properly into a presentable document.

Besides, there are far more ways of using the already installed software on most computers. How many people know that there are built in calculators or software for playing music on the computer sitting idle on the table within their reach? Most importantly, the more computers and electronics become part of our lives, through e-mailing, Automatic Teller Machines (ATM); the more professionals with expert capability to use the computer are needed in large numbers.

The starting point for being an expert user of computers is the Business Information Technology Course. It is a starter course for beginners, but based on the International Computer Driving License (ICDL) syllabus. It is designed for complete computer literacy and proficiency, based on the latest versions of available productivity software. Students will be equipped with the following skills:

SDD 101 - Web Graphics and Multimedia Design

The Beginners Web Design Course is focused on developing the visual graphic and information design skills required to create web sites. This web design course is a very comprehensive programme that teaches how to plan, organize, and create a web site from start to finish. The course places a heavy emphasis on individual page design and layout.
Using some very powerful techniques taught in this course, you will learn how even the most simplest of pages can be arranged to look more appealing and professional! By the end of this design course, students will have created a well-designed web site while having fun along the way. This course is recommended for those who want to:

  • Develop or improve their web design skills
